Coronation Street’s Andy Whyment confirms the future of soap after the star’s return

Coronation Street actor Andy Whyment may have withdrawn I’m a celebrity… South Africa early on after losing the survival test but plans to be in the ITV soap for the long haul.

“I’ve seen a lot of people come and go thinking they’re going to bigger and better things, but corrie for me he is my number one, always has been and always will be,” he said Sun after airing his exit scenes (which, for the record, were filmed some time ago).

“I grew up watching this as a kid, and when I drive up to these barriers in the morning and they’re pulling them up, I’m like, ‘I’m still working on Coronation Street‘. If I told myself that when I grew up, I would be there for 23 years… it’s amazing to touch the wood for many more years.”

“Growing up, I loved Jack and Vera [Duckworth]they’re my favorite characters so it was amazing for me, I pinched myself walking around the set thinking “I have a scene with [Bill Tarmey and Liz Dawn, who play] Jack and Vera.
