Doctor Who revealed another look at David Tennant’s new costume.
Ahead of the Comic Relief special due to air on March 17, the BBC has released a series of images from the upcoming Doctor Who sketch starring Tennant opposite Lenny Henry.
Fans have already gotten a glimpse of Tennant’s latest outfit in last year’s special The Doctor’s strength as well as in Tennant’s first photo as the Fourteenth Doctor.

While the new images serve to promote the comedy sketch, it’s a closer look at the outfit Tennant will be wearing as he continues to portray the Fourteenth Doctor in this year’s 60th Anniversary specials. Ncuti Gatwa plays the role.
We already knew that Tennant would be wearing a slightly different costume than the one he wore when he was the Tenth Doctor, and new photos confirmed just how different he is as he swapped the pinstripe suit for a brown and blue checkered number with his old color palette .

Known for wearing a pair of converse while working on the sci-fi series, Tennant wears a light-colored pair in the sketch stills.
When Tennant’s new suit was revealed, fans were puzzled as to why he didn’t regenerate into the clothes of the departing Dr. Jodie Whittaker, as per tradition.
Speaking of the decision, showrunner said Russell T. Davies“I was very sure I didn’t want David to appear in Jodie’s costume. I think the concept of men dressing up in ‘women’s clothes’, the concept of dressing up is very delicate.”
“I’m a big fan of this culture and its dignity, it’s a really precious thing. But it has to be done with great thought and respect.”
Doctor Who returns later in 2023 on BBC One in the UK and Disney+ elsewhere. Meanwhile, in the US, the show airs on BBC America, with series 1-12 available on HBO Max. Classic Doctor Who streams enabled BritBox in UK.
