Laurel Thomas of Emmerdale left with regret after discovering Marshall

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Today’s (March 8) episode of the program Emmerdale saw Laurel Thomas feel remorse after revealing Marshall’s whereabouts to her homophobic father Colin.

In an attempt to stop Colin from sending Marshall to boarding school, Laurel’s son Arthur agreed to help hide Marshall at Rishi Sharma’s house, with Rishi believing that his house is currently haunted by a chip-eating ghost.

While Rishi was still concentrating on the empty chip bag, chatting with Jai and Laurel at the Bistro, Arthur walked in to steal some snacks for his friend.

Upon returning to Holgate, Arthur insisted that Marshall continue to support him. However, the pair is interrupted by Laurel, who was suspicious of Arthur’s absence from school.

Shocked to learn that the boys had covered up Marshall’s disappearance by forging a boarding school letter, Laurel insisted that Marshall tell his father where he was – against Arthur’s pleas.

Later, Colin arrived at the Bistro and surprised a tearful Marshall by greeting him with a hug and seemingly apologizing for his previous actions.

“Looks like I handled the whole situation wrong. It was a knee-jerk reaction,” he said.

Laurel is convinced by Colin’s words. Believing that Colin will allow Marshall to return to Hotten Academy, he watches happily as the pair leave together.

However, her contentment is quickly crushed by Arthur, who later arrives to inquire about his friend’s whereabouts. Arthur is horrified to learn that Laurel allowed Colin to go away with Marshall.

He tells his mom about the homophobic abuse he received from Colin after his speech at the village hall, then blames her for any future punishment Marshall might face.

While Jai tries to smooth things over, a terrified Laurel begins to realize that her actions could have serious consequences.

“I think I made a huge mistake,” she said.
