Matt Reeves’ rejected Batman animated series Batman: The Caped Crusader received an unexpected record from Amazon.
Animated series with Batman director Reeves and two-time star Wars director JJ Abrams, who HBO shut down last yearhas now received a two-season order after finding a new home on Amazon (via Hollywood reporter).
Reeves and Abrams will executive produce the project together Batman: The Animated SeriesBruce Timm. The new series is said to take inspiration from Timm’s groundbreaking ’90s series, which is lauded as a reference point in animated Batman storytelling.

Speaking of the series when it was announcedReeves, Abrams and Timm said they are excited to bring Batman back to life.
“We’re thrilled to be working together to bring this character back to tell compelling new stories in Gotham City.”
In a joint statement, the three producers hinted at what the animation promises a dark and “exciting” series will bring.
“The series will be exciting, cinematic and evoke the roots of Batman noir while delving into the psychology of these iconic characters. We can’t wait to share this new world,” they said.

Before Crusaders in Cape‘S moving from HBO Max and Cartoon Network, WB and Cartoon Network president Sam Register said of the project: “Batman: The Animated Series was a masterpiece that shaped the perception of the character by an entire generation of fans.
“In that spirit, we bring together the three masters of storytelling in JJ, Matt and Bruce – each with their own intuitive understanding and affection for the characters – to create a new series that will continue in the same groundbreaking legacy.”
