Regional Phenomena the best order in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

“Regional phenomena” this is one of the main story quests that you will have to complete The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Realm.

Purah will ask you to check what is happening around the allied cities in Hyrule: Rita Village, Zora’s domain, City of GoronAND The village of Geruds. For those who have played The breath of the wildyou’ll recognize them as the homes of unique races around Hyrule, as well as companions and divine beasts from recent games.

You’ll have to go to each of them to gain new skills, but which area should you go to first? While there is no correct order, there are some areas that are easier to tackle than others, making them friendlier in the early game.

Below are the order of areas to visit in Regional Phenomenons based on difficulty, along with our explanations as to why. We’ll also let you know what skills you’ll get after completing each area.

If you want to know other things to prioritize early in the game, our beginner’s guide to what to do first may also be helpful.

The best order in Regional Phenomena

In short, the order in which we recommend performing the Regional Developments quest in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Is:

  1. Rita Village (North West)
  2. Zora’s domain (southeast)
  3. City of Goron (northeast)
  4. Gerudo town (SW)

The corresponding Rito Village mission is the simplest, and you can approach it using the Cold Resistant Pants you got from the Great Sky Island tutorial, making it easy to dare, even without stacks of materials. Gerudo Desert, on the other hand, requires both heat and cold resistance depending on the time of day, and has harder fights that require more materials.

Here are our in-depth thoughts on what you’ll encounter in each region if you prefer to tackle things in your preferred order:

1. Rita Village

The purah actually implies that you should first go to Rito Village. Although the area is locked in a cold blizzard, you should already have the cold proof pants from the opening sequence in the Great Sky Islands. You’ll still need another level of Cold Resistance to finish off this area, but you already have your foot in the door.

Overall, the combat and paths you follow to get to the Wind Temple are straightforward and leave no room for error. This is a pretty good area for beginners where you don’t have to worry too much about preparing a lot of supplies.

After defeating the Wind Temple, you will unlock Tulin’s ability to blast a horizontal gust of wind in whatever direction the link is pointing, allowing you to reach further areas while gliding. This is great for early exploration and making huge leaps that you might not have the stamina to normally accomplish.

2. Zora’s domain

Getting into Zora’s Domain doesn’t have any weird gimmick like the way it gets there The breath of the wildso it’s a straight shot without worrying about slippery cliffs or anything like that.

That being said, it’s quite puzzling to get to different areas. The boss fight for the Water Temple can be really tricky if you don’t have the right items to use it, so we recommend doing some research and building up your arsenal before heading there.

After defeating the Water Temple, you will receive Sidon’s ability to have a water shield that stops the hit, as well as the ability to send a stream of water forward. This ability isn’t particularly useful – we use it the least, but it’s good to have confidence and a way to perform an easy ranged attack when needed.

This one is actually interchangeable with #3, but I personally find this questline easier than Yunobo in Goron City.

3. City of Goronów

Extreme heat is still prevalent in Death Mountain, which means you must have some fire resistance (called fire retardant) on you. While you can create potions for free using lizards and creatures found near the mountain, it’s much more convenient to buy an armor set. However, the cheapest piece still costs 700 rupees, which means you should amass some wealth before embarking on this journey.

Dungeon Yunobo is cumbersome and requires some traveling in the Depths. If you haven’t done any of the Depths by the time you get to this point, it shouldn’t be a problem, but it’s better to have some experience from a quest like Camera Work in the Depths beforehand.

After the Fire Temple, you’ll unlock Yunobo’s charge, which will throw him straight forward. This is great for breaking rock walls in caves, and you can use this skill while driving vehicles made from Zonai devices, giving you an extra explosive attack.

4. City of Gerudo

The Riju piece is probably the most confusing and tedious, but it’s also not impossible to clear it first if you really want to. (We did it second, for reference.)

You’ll have to go through a sandstorm to get to Gerudo City, enter the underground bunker where Gerudo’s men are, and start the “Riju of Gerudo City” quest from there.

Riju’s trick is that you have to go through the horde mode gameplay style while defending her from Gibdo. Gibdo will need to take damage from elemental attacks before you can deal physical damage, so it’s best if you come prepared with various elemental fruits or Chuchu jelly.

Once you complete the Temple of Lightning, you’ll unlock Riju’s Lightning Strike, which will allow you to shoot a large bolt of lightning where the arrow is fired. While it’s useful for taking out things like Darkspawn and groups of enemies, it takes a while to recharge and isn’t as useful in a pinch as it could be.

With all that in mind, you should do them in any order. If you really love Sidon, go straight to him! (Ahem. I just did.) If you want to be able to instantly strike your enemies with lightning, go to Riju!

There is no right or wrong way, and if you have problems with it, you can always stop and come back later. And when you’re done with everything, you’ll be able to complete the Crisis in Hyrule Castle quest.
