The couple who played Katy and Xu Shang-Chi respectively in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie will join Cena on Amazon Prime Video Great Lotto of Deathnew feature from bridesmaids director Paul Feig.
The story takes place in the “very near future” and the logline reads: “A large lottery was set up in economically difficult California. The only catch? Kill the winner before sunset and you can legally claim your prize.

“New L.A. transplant Katie (Awkwafina) accidentally finds a winning ticket and must team up with amateur jackpot defender Noel (Cena) to make it to sunset to claim the multi-billion dollar prize, all while dealing with Noel’s protection contender Louis Lewis (Liu) who also wants to lead her to sunset to collect his rich protection commission.
Feig, who also directed Spy AND Ghostbusters, said of the project, “I love action comedies and extreme physical comedies, and this movie has both abundance and a load of heart and hilarity. This lotto will make us all winners.”
Jennifer Salke, the head of Amazon and MGM Studios, echoed the director’s opinion Great Lotto of Death it is “the kind of original ideas that viewers crave.”

Liu, who is also set to appear in Greta Gerwig’s film Barbie dollrecently criticized Quentin Tarantino for his comments about the MCU, in which the director said that viewers gravitate towards franchises rather than movie stars.
“If the only gatekeepers to movie stardom were Tarantino and Scorsese, I would never have had the opportunity to lead a film worth over $400 million,” Liu said in response to the director’s comment. “I am impressed by their cinematic genius. They are transcendent authors. But they can’t point their nose at me or anyone else.
There is currently no release date for Great Lotto of Death. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings streaming is in progress Disney+.
