Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom – King Gleeok Secret Boss Guide

The secret boss of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom King Gleeok is a giant creature that can be found in an isolated part of the map. While most Gleeok monsters only focus on one element, this one has all three and will use all its power against you. Funnily enough, we found a cheese method that should make this fight a breeze, pun intended, as you’ll soon see. Here’s our guide to help you defeat King Gleeok’s secret boss in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

King Gleeok Location

To find the secret boss of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom King Gleeok, you’ll need to reach the floating arena island in the southwest corner of the sky world map. It’s actually much higher than that Lightning Temple. This is quite a feat as there are very few options available.

We suggest going to the North Gerudo Sky archipelago. There is a huge circular structure there, something like the Death Star. Get there in different ways. Then, while inside, use Ascend to get to the top of the structure. You can try some Zonai devices and combined devices. For example, you can attach one rocket at a time to the Hover Stone while going southwest.

King Gleok’s Abilities

Once you reach this area, you’ll see a huge King Gleeok flying around. As mentioned earlier, it has three heads, and each uses a specific element: Shock, Fire, and Frost.

Be careful, because the moment he attacks, he will cast all three beams at once, possibly killing Link due to the intense damage. Likewise, his other elemental breaths will have a debuff or minor AoE effect that can still hit you if you’re too close.

How to Cheese King Gleeok

The “normal” way to fight this thing is to use pillars for protection, all while aiming in the air for a shot. We’ll do something like this, but with a twist.

In any case, when the fight starts, position yourself so that you are at the very end northern part of the island. You will see a small rock formation. It’s not exactly a pillar, but it will block the rays. We’ll call it our “Rock Safe Zone.”

This rock will keep you safe for the most part.

To chek the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom King Gleeok boss fight, all you need is:

  • Some Zonai fans
  • Several sources of Zonai
  • A good bow and lots of arrows
  • Fire Fruit, Ice Fruit and Splash Fruit or Dazzle Fruit
  • If you think you may be unprepared, you can also put on some cold weather clothing.

Hence, we suggest dropping one fan. Make sure it’s facing up then hit it with your weapon. You should now have an easy way to get wind current/updraft. Glide up, aim your bow, attach different fruits and start shooting heads based on their weakness (e.g. fruit).

When all three heads are stunned, run to the boss and howl with your melee weapon. He should regenerate and cast elemental breaths again, but don’t worry. You can simply reposition behind our “rock safe zone” and place another fan if needed. Repeat the same process as before until it drops to 40% HP.

Take advantage of the fan's updraft and get a good shot. Switch between elemental fruits by shooting the weakness of each head.

King Gleeok phase 2

At 40% HP it will fly high into the air and you probably won’t be able to reach it with the fan. Moreover, it will start spamming elemental attacks like lightning and icicles that will fall on your last location. These will create updrafts that you can ride. The problem is that there are too many bullets, so you can get hit even when you try to glide up or sideways.

In this section, we suggest you do the following:

  • As soon as it flies away, drop two Zonai Springs. Make sure they are upright and connect them together.
  • Jump on one, then perform a jump attack to activate it.
  • This will give you a huge vertical increase. At the top of the jump, aim your bow to slow down time and start shooting each head again. You can even include other materials such as those with high fuse attack or bomb flowers.
Lower the two springs and connect them together. Use them to perform a super bounce, which allows you to get a better angle when taking a shot on target.

And that’s it, with a bit of luck and patience you should be able to defeat the secret boss Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom King Gleeok. For this ordeal you will receive the Will of the Sage. Similarly, you can pick up a lot of Gleeok materials, including various items. This is just one secret boss we found while exploring, but there may be more. We will inform you in any case.
